This Privacy Policy applies to the GPSFun Location Assistant Android app (package name: com.kapa999.gpsfun) and the GPSFun service connected to the app. GPSFun provides group location sharing for trip activities. This policy explains what information the Android app and related services use, why it is used, how it is retained, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
When you sign in with Google, GPSFun uses basic account information needed to identify your account, such as your email address, display name, and profile information returned by Google.
When you choose to share location, GPSFun receives location data such as latitude, longitude, accuracy, capture time, and upload time. Location data is associated with the activities in which you are eligible to share.
GPSFun may also use technical information needed for sign-in, security, troubleshooting, and service operation, such as device identifiers, app environment, network status, and login/session information.
How we use information
Information is used to provide account access, activity participation, location sharing, maps and tracks, upload status, troubleshooting, security, and service administration.
Who can see your location
While you are sharing, other members of eligible activities may see your position and related activity information on the GPSFun map. GPSFun does not make your activity location public to everyone by default.
Background location
In the Android app, location sharing starts only after you explicitly start sharing and grant the required permissions. It can run while you use the app in the foreground and may continue in the background when you switch apps or turn off the screen. You can stop sharing at any time in the app.
Data retention and deletion
GPS records are periodically removed according to the activity retention setting. Download your GPS history before removal if you need a backup. You can delete your locations or clear personal data in an individual activity; leaving an activity also clears it. Photos become inaccessible first; failed physical file removals are retried. Clearing activity data does not delete your account; necessary membership and departure control records may remain. An account with no valid formal entitlement, no pending, active, or cancellation-pending subscription, and no sign-in for six consecutive months may be deleted automatically when enabled by the platform administrator, or manually by a platform administrator, after a 30-day advance email notice and grace period. On account deletion, necessary transaction records and email are retained separately as explained below.
Third-party services
GPSFun may use third-party services such as Google sign-in and Google Maps, and payment providers when you purchase a plan. Those services process information under their own privacy terms. GPSFun receives only the information needed to provide and verify the related service. GPSFun does not store your full credit-card number or other complete card details.
Your choices
You can stop location sharing, revoke location permission, leave activities or sign out at any time. Stopping sharing or signing out does not delete existing history. On your own member card in the Web map, use “Delete my locations” to delete GPS history for a selected range, or “Clear all my data in this activity” to clear your locations, member photos, messages and personal activity display data while retaining membership. Leaving also clears that data. Resuming sharing or uploading creates new data. Personal activity cleanup does not delete shared activity covers, meeting points or other members’ data.
Delete my account
You can delete some or all of your personal GPS location history through your member card on the activity map or the GPS history feature. Deleting GPS location history does not delete your account or remove you from an activity. You can also delete your GPSFun account through the Android app's Actions menu or Web “My Account → Actions → Delete My Account.” Account deletion removes your account, all personal GPS location history, and other associated personal data. If account deletion also removes ended activities created by you, the location and other data belonging to those activities will also be deleted. Deleting your GPSFun account does not delete your Google account. GPSFun may retain necessary order, payment, refund records and the transaction email for reconciliation, refunds, disputes and legal obligations. The transaction email is retained for five years after the relevant annual accounting closing procedure is completed, and longer only when legally required or necessary for an unresolved dispute. Retained data is not used for location tracking, sign-in or marketing.
